LIFE DRAWS
an initiative by HIAS health in the arts
the human body and elements of nature are brought into a context of visual absorbtion and translation, arranged with the help and the vision of artists offering a sensible engagement of the proposed scene
in this first drawing session the floral artist Daina Daugaviete is collaborating with her muse Maru on an installation that forms the base for Marus’ physical work-to draw inspiration from, concentrate on and depict visually
the event is designed to give time and space to develop skills through guidance and exploration, focussing on quality time spending and creative transmission
LIFE DRAWS is a proposition to engage in concentration of depicting the given, its content is consciously designed by artists for an audience to interact with and extend drawing techniques
3 hours to engage in personal development and the development of skills where performers, set designers, sculptors and installation artists are sharing mindful content of their disciplines for the benefit of creating a common sphere
HOLISTIC DAY IIII
HOLISTIC DAY 4 on nourishment
13.4.2014 at Anatum’s Abode
sharing knowledge, time and creativity through workshops, degustation and showcase
The smoke of keeping…………………………………….
(smoke house by Charlotte Wendy Law, interactive installation degustation)
Pickles All-Mighty…………………………………………
(Fermented goodness, pro-biotic ventures, sculpture and introduction by Giuseppe Mele )
The Nutritional Visage………………………………….
(A sculpturesque piece of learning, applied research and knowledge sharing by Lee Fukke)
No body knows………………………………………………
(from sheeps skull and feet – to a broth of grounding matter collaboration between paul jones and anastasia freygang)
During our 4th holistic day, this time with a focus on NOURISHMENT , the ‘menue’ consists of sculptures, performances and installations as means for communication. We experiment with pathways that involve reformatting the given with efforts from artists and creatives from different disciplines.
HIAS health in the arts encourages thoughtful and creative transmissions of knowledge- for arts positive impact on society. Participative learning and multi disciplinary use of holistic elements challenge definitions of artists role and output as well as the character of the perceived moment.

visual meditation at TOPOPHOBIA
visual meditation is the video based practice of mezmerising intent offering guidance throughout timelessness. Anastasia Freygang performed an Aformance dealing with momentary concentration at TOPOPHOBIA london. accompagnied with a voice over stating the following :
I dont know what it is to be always wanting to allow time
to perceive and orientate
sniff it out in a way to
get it straight since straights are missing in these curves of the possible
destraction
where is time and will for concentration in these times
partial attention in the everywhere
feeding into the everything
so multitasking I dont dare to loose a glimpse
since movement
your breath
any presence
means beauty
for me
for us
if just we d leave it to develop
unfolding in time
exploring alive
can you hear the other existing
can you look into his eyes
allow his presence to maintain a stance within
always re-positioning
how fleeting
no need to make up your mind
just allowing to enter you for possible learning, possible awareness
for a love in it, a simplicity thats touching
apointing humanity appreciating creation
you you go go on
fast to shy away
fast to put the other first| the flashing matters
do pro- create attention
now how things are seen to bend
to stretch
to foster momentum
there is a chance to perceive the now. Inevitable
points and points of life assembling
breathing times
in rhythms of a stomach’s inhale
of a twitch around the mouth
of ones eyes that see the given
see the given !
No rush times
observations for a mind to grasp its logic
beyond judgement, passing clouds in a sky ruling over us
akwnowledge its power
its existence strikes. Our all does have its effects
its aftermath
its rites unfold in the communal
butter fly logic your doings pair with intention of the mind
what is there in terms of guidance if there s no time to see a moments task
of transfer
a moments quest to rule the now
if we dont allow
if we dont allow
guidence quest from the pen of an activist
as opposed to the claims of a needy crowd
as opposed to a boredoms drive
ratteling minds are allowed
follow the breathing person, unfolding a truth in its own right
granting you permission, surely
we can gain valuable insight
a visual journey since visuality counts the senses can
bless the senses
grant them right
paying attention
free this is
broadening awareness
yours this is
in smallest details, with an ease of an open mind

SCENT IN YOUR HANDS
transformational realities delivered through design. Lauren Davies from heka lab incooperated absolute aesthetica for the application of hands on scent creation for ‘reigniting a dialogue about our relationship with nature and the materials we use’. the empowerement comes in high value materials such as copper, maple wood and borosilicate glass with herbal ingredients of choice. the desired flavour of the resulting cosmetics bring about the necessity of floral inclusion, making us reach back to nature, pick the given and source its offerings.

THAMES TIDE RULING, BECOMING VOLUNTARY CULTURAL PRISONERS ALLOWING CHANGE ALLOWING TIME
architectual envisoning in kontext of london’s westbank
the 3rd year assignment of the by now graduating architect octave pero
illustrates an approach towards architecture that dares to incorporate alteration by its natural surroundings, conceptually using their effects
the thames tide rises twice a day, flooding the bank for six hours to abandon its shores again
by calculating its stream and water circuit the design related form of the project An-OTHER CULTURAL SPACE
links cause and effect
to result in an extended riverbed shaped by these natural means
An-OTHER CULTURAL SPACE consists of an open air gallery and a tidal venue among others
these two spaces have in common what other constructs would avoid
– the permission of interference
the gallery gets flooded according to the moon’s will and poses a simple question to the art world:
is there works, especially on high brow level, that could retain its value once flooded , once touching a reality of any possible ‘dangers’ such as nature, such as time causing decay- dangers that are coming with existing within a space ?
in comparison: the safe surroundings of a white cube gallery stem for the will of the contrary:
preservation, presentation, non interference
in non places
the open air flooded gallery is challenging the artists as well as the visitors by imposing change on the works, on the space
and therefore on our perception.
the tidal venue goes one step further
visitors may become voluntary prisoners due to the flow of the thames blocking the venues exits
regardless of the programmation inside, the duration of enclosement to perceive
syncs nature and time
bringing its consequences right into entertainment and arts , and our way of absorbing it
no phone reception for the time being would be a suggestion from HIAS’ side
octave pero offers a ‘no choice’ situation as part of a cultural package
the tide, that we learned to overcome sucessfully, holds the power of showing us limitations that we no longer would accept
unless its in an art context. yet the lesson learned from such a lock up or an even flooding, would sensibilise us for real.
spending time together, perceiving the given and sticking to a choice made wouldn’t have to be framed and imposed
yet general progress gives the impression there might be need for such ideas from a therapeutical point of you. for the people’s sake.
